WHAT KIND OF RIDING DID YOU SAY?

ENDURANCE RIDING:

An endurance ride is an equestrian athletic event where a horse and rider team must cover a certain distance within a specified maximum time. It may be best described as a marathon on horseback over a distance of 50 to 100 miles in one day. The horse and rider cover various terrains through woods and fields, hills and roads. The events are closely supervised by equine veterinarians who check the horses before, during and after the competition. The first horse and rider team to cross the finish line and pass the required veterinary exam wins the race.

COMPETITIVE TRAIL RIDING:

A competitive trail ride is shorter than an endurance ride and is usually 25 to 40 miles in length and can also include rides over several days. The horse and rider team that win this competition are not necessarily the fastest. Instead, they are the team that has best negotiated the trail and completed the course in an ideal time. There is a minimum and maximum time for completion and penalty points are lost by a team that is too fast or too slow. In this type of competition as well, a horse must pass a veterinary exam before, during and after the competition.

Team Quebec will be competing in the Canadian Championships in the following divisions:

100 Mile Endurance Championship ~ FEI***, AERC

50 Mile Endurance Championship ~ FEI** , AERC

2-Day  ~ 65 Mile Competitive Trail Riding Championship
